Winter Feeding
Like last week, we took advantage of the warmer weather today(55) and finalized our hives for winter. Again, something that should have been done months ago. In order to combat this, I have started to put a schedule together for next year. I plan on sticking to this. We will see how that goes.
Last Minute Winter Prep
Today Nicholas and I spent the day in the bee yards. It was warmer today (50 degrees) and thought that it would be a good time to get into the hives. We needed to pull strips and put candy boards and mouse guards on - which should have been done weeks ago. We didn't do a great job preparing the bees for winter. Equipment Storage
Well I've spent the last couple of days getting the rest of our equipment put indoors for the winter. I've learned the hard way that we need to keep all of the boxes put away.
Beekeepers Journal
This journal is to log the beekeeping activities of Bohman Bee Company. I will use this to describe what we are doing, how the bees are doing and my thoughts/plans. It will be a lot for my own use but I hope that some of you enjoy it and can get a taste of beekeeping - without the stings.
